Why I'm Serving

My name is Eloise "Yuvette" Hudson, and I am a candidate for Stonecrest City Council, District 2. I am not entering this race simply because I want a title. I am entering this race because I believe leadership is a responsibility, a responsibility to listen to the people, understand the challenges they face, and have the courage to address those challenges with honesty, acountability, and action. For nearly 15 years, I have had the honor of serving as a Commissioner with the Housing Authority of DeKalb County. For 12 years, I have also served as Vice Chair of the Resident Services Corporation of DeKalb County. These experiences have given me a firsthand understanding of housing, resident needs, community development, and the challenges families face every day. Since 2020, I have also led Community Connect Services, which became a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting individuals and families with essential resources and creating pathways toward self-sufficiency. Community Connect Services is also certified through the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC), reflecting my commitment to building partnerships and providing meaningful services to our community.

My record of service did not begin with this campaign. I have been serving people, listening to families, and working in our communities for years.

And that experience has taught me something important: our residents don't need empty promises. They need leaders who will show up, listen, communicate, make informed decisions, and follow through.

I am running because I believe Stonecrest deserves leadership that is transparent, accountable, accessible, and focused on the people. I believe we can build a city where residents have a voice, businesses have opportunities to grow, neighborhoods are safe and thriving, and our government works with the community, not just simply makes decisions for the community. Tonight, I am not here just to tell you what I believe. I am here to talk about my experience, my vision, and how I intend to lead. I am Yuvette Hudson, and I am ready to bring nearly 15 years of housing leadership, 12 years of resident-services leadership as Vice Chair, more than six years leading a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit, and years of community advocacy to the council table. I am ready to be a voice for District 2, a voice for the people, a voice for accountability, and a voice for progress.

Thank you.
